Can I just do a one off coaching session?2024-07-25T08:13:27+10:00

No. We don’t offer one-off consultations or coaching sessions. Our goal is to get to know you very well, build a long-term relationship with you and help you unpack all the facets of nutrition and eating so that you can learn how to eat well for the rest of your life. This is impossible to do in one session, so we don’t offer this.

If you’re after a one-off session, we highly recommend being open to the benefits of ongoing coaching and how it can help you. You can just book a free chat with us to find out more.

Not yet. We are currently building the mobile app as we speak and it’s due out in October 2024. Join the waitlist now and be one of the first to know when it goes live!

The Ayla Health mobile app and coaching sessions have been designed and created for adults in mind.

Although the content is evidence-based and safe for young people to consume, we highly recommend that children and teens under the age of 16 sign up for the app or engage in coaching sessions with parental consent and/or supervision.

How do I sign up for the mobile app?2024-07-25T08:22:06+10:00

When it goes live, the mobile app will be available through the Australian Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Download the app and then sign up with your name and email. This will enable you to access all our recipes and recipe collections. You’ll have free access to them, forever. Premium features like the modules, live chat and My Meals will be available through in-app purchases.

Our method is not a meal plan or prescriptive food program that tells you what you can and can’t eat. It is a nutrition education program that teaches evidence-based eating principles that can be applied to any individual regardless of their allergies, intolerances, or health conditions.

Where possible, you will be given alternatives to suit your needs. You can jump live chat and ask if there are no suggestions within the modules. Our team are online and ready to help!

You will also be able to filter the recipes by the following dietary preferences:

  • omnivore, pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan
  • wheat free
  • gluten free
  • nut free
  • diary free
  • egg free
  • soy free

Yes! You can create your own meal plans with the My Meals tool and then create a shopping list for that meal plan to get everything you need.

Your coaching sessions with a qualified dietitian or nutritionist are all about helping to put what you learn in the modules into practice in your life. It is one thing to know nutrition information. It is an entirely different thing to be able to put that information into practice in a way that is realistic and sustainable long term.

See your video coaching sessions as connecting with a non-judgemental, supportive and highly knowledgeable member of your health care team who will encourage, coach, consult and counsel you on overcoming barriers, changing old mindsets, building habits, brainstorming food ideas and applying evidence-based nutrition into your life!

Do you use Zoom for video coaching sessions?2024-05-08T14:05:17+10:00

No.

We use software called Cliniko to conduct our video coaching sessions. Due to the high volume of clients that we service every week we are not able to use Zoom or any other software to conduct your consultation. Cliniko meets the strict health privacy standards in Australia and is a secure and excellent platform to discuss your health and nutrition concerns.

Can more than one person join a coaching session?2023-05-19T18:58:53+10:00

No. We use highly secure Telehealth software and only ONE person with the link for the video call will be able to join at one time. Our software does NOT allow for multiple parties with the same video link to join the consultation from two separate devices.

If you have a partner, support worker or other individual wanting to join the coaching session, you will need to be in the same location and using the same device.

Due to the high volume of clients that we support every week, we are NOT able to use any other software to facilitate multiple attendees at your video session. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Can I upgrade my app account to access premium features?2024-07-25T08:35:18+10:00

Yes! You can absolutely upgrade your subscription at any time via your mobile app profile. To upgrade, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to profile in the top right-hand corner of the Home Screen.
  2. Tap on ‘Manage My Subscription’
  3. Tap on ‘Upgrade to Premium’
  4. Follow the steps to check out.
  5. Your subscription is managed through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account.

The information you provide, such as your name, address, and contact details, is private, and other members do not have access to it.

In our private Facebook group for the Ayla Health Community, other members can only see your name and comments. Depending on your Facebook privacy settings, other members may not be able to see your Facebook account.

We do not use members’ photos, stats or personal information without consent unless members have chosen to make them publicly available. The mobile app data is private and secure, and we take protecting your privacy and information very seriously. Please see our privacy policy for more information.

Users can cancel their paid mobile app subscription anytime via their Apple App Store or Google Play Store accounts.

Can I use my Private Health or Medicare for my mobile app subscription?2024-07-25T08:40:16+10:00

Private health insurance or Medicare does not cover the cost of your mobile app subscription.

Private health insurance or Medicare does not cover the cost of your video coaching sessions with Kate Freeman or a nutritionist.

If you’d like to use your private health insurance or Medicare for your video coaching sessions, you can book in with a dietitian at Ayla Health

Private Health

Private health insurance covers the cost of individual consultations with a qualified dietitian. Members with eligible private health insurance may be able to claim the cost of their coaching package at Ayla Health. Once you have completed your package, we will provide you with a receipt to claim directly with your insurer (available Australia-wide).

Medicare

Members with a medicare referral from their GP may claim a rebate on the cost of their coaching sessions. Please contact our team for more information.

As often as you like! Your coach will talk about these needs with you and aim to book your sessions in at regular intervals that suit you as best as we can.

Will I see a nutritionist or dietitian?2024-07-25T08:42:06+10:00

Registered nutritionist Kate Freeman founded Ayla Health. Kate and her dietitians are university-educated and registered with the peak nutrition bodies, the Nutrition Society of Australia (Kate) and Dietitians Australia (dietitians).

You can choose who you’d like to book with here.

Please note that private health insurance and Medicare rebates are only available with dietitians and NOT nutritionists.

What if I can’t make my video coaching session?2024-07-25T08:52:16+10:00

You may cancel or reschedule your coaching session without penalty with more than 24 hours notice. You can cancel your session via the cancellation link in your booking confirmation and reminder emails or by emailing support@aylahealth.com.au.

Cancellations or reschedules made with less than 24 hours notice or failing to show up for your scheduled session will incur penalties. You will be charged a $60 fee for 1 hour sessions or a $30 fee for a 30 minute session to cover the time set aside for you by the dietitian.

Step 1: Book a free 30-minute strategy session with our team

Get started with a free strategy session. This is a mandatory step to understand your goals and nutrition challenges, explain how our coaching works and decide if you’re a good fit for our service.

Step 2: Pick a Coaching Package

After your free session, you have the freedom to choose a coaching package that best suits your needs. Once you’ve made your decision, you can book your first coaching session. Please note that packages must be paid for in full and in advance, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted coaching experience.

Private health and Medicare claiming is available for these sessions when you book with a dietitian.

Our goal is to help you achieve long-term progress with your eating habits and your health through regular, individualised nutrition coaching and support. We understand that change takes time, and we’re here to guide you through incremental, gradual, consistent changes over multiple sessions.

Combining a mobile app subscription to access the habit-building modules and receiving one-on-one support is the BEST way to make long-term progress with healthy eating habits!

We recommend fortnightly sessions as the optimum frequency of support; however, this is also decided based on your individual needs after chatting with the dietitian during your initial consultation.

We’re sorry to see you go! If you want to close your free account, please email support@aylahealth.com.au and request a full deletion of your profile.

Just so you know, once your account has been deleted, we cannot restore the associated data (including module progress).

What is the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian?2024-05-15T13:48:41+10:00

The key differences between nutritionists and dietitians are:

Registered Nutritionists are members of the Nutrition Society of Australia and can provide practical nutrition advice to healthy individuals, who are not looking to manage a serious medical condition or disease. They can help with building diet quality, creating healthy habits and routines, recipes, meal and snack ideas as well as giving you general healthy eating advice around maintain good health and wellbeing long term.

Accredited Practicing Dietitians (APDs) are members of Dietitians Australia and specialise in the relationship between diet and disease. Dietitians are equipped to work with individuals with chronic and acute health conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, PCOS, allergies and intolerances. You are able to receive a rebate from your private health insurance with an appointment with a dietitian and where applicable receive a Medicare rebate.

Are my coaching sessions covered by private healthย insurance?2024-05-08T14:15:21+10:00

If you have private health insurance, your coaching sessions may be covered. You will need to book with one of our dietitians to receive a rebate from your insurer. Private health is not eligible to claim with nutritionists. We will provide you with a receipt after you have completed all the sessions in your package which will contain all the details you need to claim.

How much will my private health rebate be?

The amount you are able to claim with your private health insurer will depend on your level of cover. You can enquire with your private health insurer prior to your consultation if you wish. Simply provide your insurer with the cost of the consultation (between $200 – $250/hour) and the HICAPS item number below to find out how much you will be required to pay.

How do I join a video coaching session?2024-07-25T09:10:27+10:00

Once you have booked your coaching session, you will receive a confirmation email which contains the link to join your session. You will also receive this link in your reminder emails, and we can resend you the link at any time. This link will open the private and secure video call in the internet browser on the device you’re using. All you have to do is click the link and give your browser permission to access your camera and microphone.

Any smart phone, laptop, computer or tablet with a camera and microphone will work for a video coaching session.

All you will need to do is click a link in your email confirmation or reminder that will open a video window in your device’s internet browser. Then you will click a button to join the call and your session will begin.

If you canโ€™t get the video to work and have not joined the video consultation after 5 minutes we will call you.

You can resume your consultation over the phone and we will email any resources or recommendations to you.

What if I don’t have a device that can connect to video?2024-07-25T09:12:01+10:00

We can still conduct support sessions over the phone if you are not able to connect to video. To minimise time wasted, if you haven’t been able to connect by 5 minutes into the session, we’ll give you a call.

If you would prefer or need a phone consultation please specify this when making a booking and we’ll call you at the scheduled time of your appointment and will be able to email resources and recommendations to you as per the normal procedure.

How do I book a coaching session in a different timezone?2024-07-25T09:12:30+10:00

You can book a video coaching sessionย with our team, no matter which time zone youโ€™re in.

You will need to select your time zone in the top right-hand corner of the online booking system or let our team know where youโ€™re located, so that we can ensure you book in at a time that suits you.ย 

Once your client file has been updated to your time zone, all your appointment confirmation and reminders will be shown in YOUR time zone.
