This module is all about helping you move away from a binary perspective of nutrition, especially when it comes to food processing. It’s very easy to think about food processing in ‘black’ and ‘white’, ‘good’ and ‘bad’ terms. With unprocessed food being ‘good’ and processed food being ‘bad’. However, this is an inferior perspective on food and nutrition and sets you up for unnecessary food stress. This module goes into detail on the types of food processing our modern food system uses and how it affects the safety and nutritional value of the food we eat. With this knowledge in hand you can make food choices that not only give you freedom and flexibility, you can also feel confident you’re ticking all the right nutrition boxes for the health of you and your family.

Module Learning Outcomes

  • You will understand how food processing can be beneficial and detrimental.
  • You will feel comfortable to include processed food in your regular diet.
  • You will determine the proportion of your diet coming from whole food and how to realistically increase that proportion.
